07 SepWhat, Fall already?

Yes ladies, the seasons are about to change and with that goes a change in wardrobe, makeup and even sometimes hair color. What I like to do is take my every day items and add just a little something new to give my wardrobe, makeup and hair a whole new look.

For example, I love tank tops. They give me the option of dressing in layers and make my shoulder’s look a little wider (shrinking down the hips if you know what I mean). So this time of year I’ll add a blazer or two, a sweater or two to spice up the wardrobe while still utilizing that summer tank top staple.

For my hair I’ll pull away from the super light highlights and give my hair a slightly warmer tone while going a shade darker. I also notice I go a little darker with my natural eye liner and mineral eye shadow. This year I’m going a little red with my hair so my eye makeup is warmer. Metallic warm brown tones like “Hollywood” and even “Tiger” to mix with my other mineral eye shadows. I’ve even found a green that looks great with my hazel eyes. It’s called “EVER-GREEN”.

Now for lips. Natural Lip Stain is the way to go for me. I like that it has more color than my natural lip gloss and that it’s stay on lip color. With my warmer tones I’m wearing “Cayenne” for a lighter shade and “Rosalie” when I want dramatic dark color. With these two colors I love mixing them for a medium tone lipstick. Now enough about me, what’s your fall fashion secret?

07 JulSummer Look

When you walk past her you think “My gosh her skin is glowing and beautiful. I’d give anything to have her coloring.” Well, here are tricks to the trade to help you get that summer glow on. She knows the tricks, now it’s your turn!

“Summer” is wearing:
About Face Tinted Moisturizer: As a base to give her skin that healthy glow.

Hocus Pocus: On the inner corner of her eye, on the inner corner of the “apple” of her cheek, and under her brow to emphasize the curvature of her fact and diminish under eye circles.

STACKED Black Mascara: Because her eyes wouldn’t have it any other way. Lash lengthening formula with proteins to help build lash growth over time.

Loose Mineral Eye Color in “Beach House”: This wearable shade looks Fabulous on everyone. Summer is wearing it applied with a wet brush to her eye lid as well as all around her eye in place of traditional eye liner.

New Cream Blush in “Rockin’ Rose”: As a hint of coral color over her warm skin. She emphasized the apple of her cheek and put an oh so slight bit on the tip of her nose.

Honey Lip Glaze in “Lip Service”: Super humectant honey blended with moisturizing oils and natural waxes to give your lips a super shiny gloss with a hint of that coral color that makes everyone’s skin say “SUMMER!”

02 AugGet Tasha’s Look!

mineral makeup lookmineral makeup look

Tasha’s look can be achieved by using the following products:

CANAVAS
1st: Tasha primed her face with About Face Tinted Primer
2nd: Tasha swirled our HydraSilk Loose Mineral Foundation in the shade “Venessia” to minimize texture, cover flaws and create a matte but not flat canvas to apply her color
CHEEKS
3rd: Tasha loves a naturally bright cheek so she blended “Raspberry” loose mineral blush onto the apples of her cheeks upward toward her temples.
EYES
4th: She primed her entire lid all the way up to the arch of her brow in “Baja” multi tasking eye shadow to emphasize her wonderful arch.
5th: Tash moistened her eye shadow brush and applied “Chestnut” multi tasking mineral eye shadow just to the lid of her eye
6th: “Cleopatra” Line & Define Gel Eyeliner was swept onto Tasha’s upper lid and lower lid from inner corner all the way out to the outer corner of her eyes.
7th: Tasha STACKED her eye lashes with 8 layers (Count ‘em Girls!) of “Bewitching Black” STACKED Mascara for lashes that look so good you’d swear they were fake. (They’re not!)
LIPS
8th: Because Tasha’s eye makeup is so dramatic, she put just a touch of color on her lips and a bit of shine with “Flirtatious” POUT! Lip Gloss.
FINISH
Last: The final touch was a finish with “INVISIBLE” oil blotting minerals because Tasha can get a touch shiney throughout the day.
Can you say “PERFECTION!”

03 JulBeauty Foods For Healthier Skin

We all know that eating healthy can improve our overall well-being resulting in a natural radiance that our skin will reflect.  But did you ever consider taking it a step further?  Adding foods like fruits, vegetables, berries, oils and soy to your skin care regimen can really boost the effects of your skin care products.  It’s really just as simple as mixing them up and applying them to your face.  Here are a few ‘recipes’ to try on your face:

1 mashed banana + 1 scoop Terra Firma Cosmetics Chocolate Mask

2 mashed strawberries + 2 tbsp soy milk + 1 scoop of Terra Firma Cosmetics Mineral Mud Mask

1 tbsp organic plain yogurt + 10 mashed blueberries + 1 scoop Terra Firma Cosmetics Fruit Enzyme Mask

Here are some foods that deliver amazing results when they come into contact with your skin and can be added and/or substituted in any of the above recipes:

Foods containing Lycopene, one of the most powerful natural antioxidants which improves skins ability to protect against harmful UV rays: Tomatoes, Guava, Pink Grape Fruit, Papaya and Watermelon. (Cooked tomatoes contain higher potency of lyocene than raw.)

For Mature Skin – Carrots, Oranges, Tangerines, Mangoes and Appricots all provide lots of beta-carotene that fights free-radicals.  They are also packed with Vitamin C which promotes the protection of collagen in skin

Need to Exfoliate Skin – Strawberries, Blueberries, Blackberries, Grapes, Plums and Pineapple have high concentrations of antioxidants as well as fruit enzymesFruit enzymes help exfoliate the dead skins cells that build up on the outer layer of your skin.

For Dry Skin – Avocados, Olive Oil and Honey all help with keeping skin hydrated and soft.

For Puffiness – Cucumbers and Potatoes help with reducing puffiness especially under the eyes.  Raw potato slices are good to place over eyes on days that your bags are really noticeable.

Foods that help with skin hyperpigmentation are anything with soy (soy milk, tofu) as well as various types of mushrooms. Brush on some soy milk after a mask to help with evening out your skin tone. Oats are good for sensitive skin and help soothe irritated skin.

Red Wine and Cider Vinegar are also high in antioxidants and both have anti-aging effects.  Cider Vinegar contains beta-carotene, pectin, a wide range of vitamins and several minerals vital to good health and healthy skin and is also used to fight acne.

little tip idea …

I love to juice with my juicer at home.  I am always trying to mix together as many different types of healthy fruits and veggies as I can.  One day after juicing I looked at my pulp catcher container and felt so guilty about throwing it away.  It seemed like such a waste.  That is when I got the bright idea to put it on my face.  And I loved the results.  So now after I juice I plop a glob of the pulp on my face, sip my yummy healthy juice and enjoy a facial.

01 JulSafe Alternative to Baking in the Sun

Basking in the glory of the harmful sun rays might be a thing of the past, but you don’t have to give into pale altogether. Massage our liquid sunshine all over face and body for an instant tan.

Our face and body bronzing gel is streak free and dries in seconds. What’s more is there’s absolutely no commitment ladies because our gel mineral bronzer washes off with soap and water.

The most important thing is that our gel mineral bronzer contains none of the icky stuff that you find in gel bronzers. No propylene glycol, no mineral oil, parabens, chemical colorants and more!

10 JunWhat is Your Favorite SLS Free Shampoo?

A few months ago I switched to an SLS Free Shampoo.  For those of you who do not know, SLS is short for Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and is commonly used in shampoos, toothpastes, shower gels, and many other hygiene products.  Not only can it cause severe dryness of the skin but it has also been proven to be carcinogenic when applied directly to the skin or consumed.  I spent most of my life lathering and shampooing with products that contain this because I was unaware of an alternative.  So now, I am completely SLS Free and my skin is LOVING me!   I actually had one incident where I ran out of SLS Free shampoo and had to resort back to my old stuff from under the sink.  It wasn’t pretty.  I seriously turned into one giant flake.  No joke.  My skin and body had become so well adjusted to life without sulfates that it completely dried me out.

The only drawback is that there is not a huge selection of Sulfate Free Shampoos.  Sulfates are found in almost all leading shampoo brands in every drugstore.  Right now I am using an SLS and Paraben Free Shampoo from Organix.  Unfortunately I have since discovered that it contains both dimethicone and formaldehyde.  So I am currently on the hunt for a new brand.   Please let me know what your favorites are as well as how one can go about purchasing or ordering them.  In my opinion, there are few things better than a good healthy yummy smelling shampoo that leaves my hair soft and scalp hydrated!  I am really looking forward to what you all have to say!  Ta ta for now!
